Service territories are distinct areas or regions designated for specific nearby technicians. It helps keep service requests organized while also reducing a travel strain on those working in your network.
These service territories are likely an important part of operating your business…so why not make them more visible to all involved?
MetaLocator now supports the ability to visually display semi-transparent Territory Boundaries directly on the locator interface. Supported territory types include:
- Country
- State/Province
- County (U.S. FIPS only)
- Postal Code (U.S. Postal Codes only)
How it Works
Each location in MetaLocator can include one or more associated territory fields. These fields store a list of service areas that your business defines. When a visitor interacts with a specific result (map marker or result card), MetaLocator will highlight the appropriate territory for the selected location.
There’s a few configuration options to provide the feature with the best fit for your business’ needs. Administrators have control over the following:
- Show territory boundaries
- Territory boundary fill color
- Territory border color
- Territory border width
Basically, MetaLocator admins can show what territory a user is in based on their interaction with the interface while also providing different ways to highlight those territories. Simple enough, right?
Reasoning
But why did we spend the time developing this feature? The answer is simple, to improve your lives…duh.
But seriously, this feature is advantageous to help customers find locations (or dealers) in their designated service area as efficiently as possible. Consumers can make faster, more confident decisions without the guesswork of wondering “do they service my region?”
This interface feature adds one less step to a consumer’s journey toward a sale, which increases the chances of the sale happening (because we all have shorter attention spans now-a-days). Additionally, adding visible territories can provide an option for visitors to search by territory (i.e. the county they reside in) to have a more simplified, catered list of results in their area.
Some of the other basic benefits beyond transparency with consumers are:
- Operational efficiency
- Network management
- Sales & marketing alignment
Utilizing territories can also be beneficial for admins, admins can begin pulling specific analytics and insights from each territory. This provides the opportunity to see where your top (and bottom) performing regions are, allowing the opportunity to identify and remedy those struggling. Admins can also use territory data as a way to support expansion planning, using hard evidence gathered in each territory can allow for educated decisions on what areas make the most sense to begin business in next.
Are Territory Boundaries for My Business?
If this feature caught your eye, real quick…ask yourself these questions:
- Do you manage a network of dealers/installers/technicians/salespeople etc.?
- Are those in your network assigned to specific territories?
- Are you looking to provide the best UX possible on your locator?
If you answered “yes” to all three of these, then Territory Boundary Display is likely a perfect fit for your business. If you’re interested in learning more about this feature, or any of our other features (we have a lot of them), then reach out to our team here.
