This article explains how to add a widget to the MetaLocator Analytics Dashboard. Further, this demonstrates how to adjust the date range for reporting, reviewing the report online and how to capture the report in a format suitable for Excel.
MetaLocator analytics uses the well known Piwik/Matomo platform. The Analytics Dashboard is found under the MetaLocator tab labeled Analytics. This is included with every MetaLocator plan.
Opening the Analytics Dashboard in a new window to begin with is helpful especially if you will be reviewing a large set of data.
Select the range of data as needed. Here we select a month of data.
We have selected the widget to display City summary data. This would be useful to analyze the Cities from which searches originate. As can be seen there is a wide range of available widgets.
Once added the widget is now prominent on your Analytics Dashboard.
Hovering over the upper right of the window reveals the Maximise button. The Maximise button opens the widget in a new window.
If you will be reviewing the information online, you can page through the rows using the “Next” and “Previous” buttons. You can also adjust the number of rows displayed. The display here shows 2,264 rows in the set. Selecting “all” would display a long list of rows that can be scrolled.
The information from the widget can also be exported into other forms. Here we show choosing the TSV (tab separated values) which Excel can easily accept. Here the ‘row limit’ is set to export All rows.
If the export will be performed on occasion, say, monthly, an alternative method is to capture the export URL for reuse. Use the “Show Export URL” link pointed to in the above image to reveal the URL. This URL can then be altered for the date parameters as highlighted below. Copy that URL then paste it into a browser tab and there will be a prompt to save the output.
This is representative data from a TSV export as viewed in Excel.
